Backing Women-Led Enterprises: Why Targeted Support Works
A grant program that treats every applicant identically will still land unevenly, if the barriers applicants face aren't identical to begin with.
Women entrepreneurs, especially in regions with limited formal banking access, routinely encounter obstacles that a gender-neutral funding process doesn't account for: collateral requirements tied to assets more often titled to men, less access to business networks that pass along informal financing leads, and a disproportionate share of unpaid household responsibilities that limit time available to chase paperwork-heavy funding processes.
None of that is a reflection of the businesses themselves. It's a reflection of who conventional financing was designed around. That's the reasoning behind dedicated review tracks for women-led businesses: not a lower bar, but a process built to actually see the business in front of it.
What targeted support looks like in practice
Flexible documentation
Accepting alternative proof of ownership or operation where formal titling is uneven.
Dedicated review time
A second look during evaluation, not a separate, lower standard.
Paired mentorship
Practical support alongside capital, where a founder wants it.
What we ask of applicants
The same as everyone else: a clear plan for the business and the funds. Being a woman-led business earns closer review attention during our 2026 cycle — it doesn't change the underlying eligibility criteria.
If you're a woman founder considering an application, we'd rather you apply and find out than assume the answer.
